The waiting begins...

It's 8:50am. The anesthesiologist, nurses and Dr. Sood all came in and talked with us. They just took her back about 10 minutes. It will be about an hour before the actual surgery starts.

This morning has been by far the hardest moment. There is so much unknown. So much to be hopeful for but also so much to be scared about. It will be what it is but the "not knowing" part is always the hardest. Not yet knowing what to accept. It has always been that way ever since Sophie was first diagnosed at 6 months of age.

Thank you all for your words of encouragement. We are trying our hardest to stay positive. We are just so incredibly scared, emotional, tired, hopeful, grateful...so many mixed emotions.

Elaine & Brandon,
I have been following Sophie's story for awhile but have never posted a comment. Ever since reading on the Yahoo IS group that her surgery was moved up, I have been praying for your sweet Sophie. I am amazed at your ability to update the blog through all this. As an IS parent hoping to take my daughter to see Dr. Chugani soon, your descriptions of everything are so informative and helpful to me. And I loved the poker references this morning. I will keep praying.

We're all pulling for Sophie here! Colin saw Sophie's pictures last night and he just wanted to give her a great big hug. We all prayed for her last night and Colin really understands now why it is so important to have prayed for her all these nights. Joe is also at mass now saying a prayer. Hang in there, take some deep breaths and know you are doing the best thing for her with this surgery. We love you guys and are hearts are with you. ~ Love, Erin
