Is it weird that...

I thought Sophie's little pee-drenched footprints were oh so cute???

It was 5 minutes before midnight. I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth when I heard Sophie coming down the steps. I knew it was her (Elsa had just woke up moments before and already crawled into our bed). But her footsteps sounded a little different (as I hear them every single night right around this time). I knew something was off.

Her pajama pants were soaked.

It has been so long since she has had an accident that I can't even remember. It still makes my heart skip a beat (in a happy way) that she is potty-trained. So proud of her.

Anyway... So Brandon and I cleaned her up and slipped some new pjs on her. And I went on the hunt for the pee spot...thinking it was probably going to be in her bed. Nope. It was those cute little pee-soaked footprints in front of her bathroom door. She tried. Just didn't make it.

(By the way, I just think I am in an extremely good mood tonight because I went to a workshop on ADHD and met a very knowledgeable psychiatrist that is willing to take us on as a new patient even after explaining Sophie's complicated history. Her ADHD has been wearing on me but even more so is trying to find the help/support that we need to deal with this issue. It seems the medical community is more focused on her epilepsy and how complicated and different her case is because of her brain surgery. The psychiatrist did admit that he has not treated anyone like Sophie but that it didn't mean that he wouldn't try his best to help us. See...it doesn't take much to make me happy.)

Sweet dreams...

We started Sophie on Neurontin two nights ago. Even though Neurontin is a seizure medication, we are using it for a sleeping aid. Melatonin did nothing for her...probably because her issue was never falling asleep but staying asleep. She has slept through the night on both nights. Though, she immediately threw up after taking last night's dose. We finally found a medication that Sophie cannot tolerate. It is liquid form and I guess it taste terrible even though it is suppose to have a strawberry flavor. I cannot bring myself to taste it but if Sophie thinks it is bad then it is HORRIBLE. Maybe if we mix it in with some yummy drink, she will tolerate it better. Time to start experimenting.

Sweet dreams...HA!!!

I should not post about a night that is not over yet. It just leaves room for more posting when there shouldn't be any. Sophie ended up waking up (for the third time) a little after midnight. After about 45 minutes, Brandon couldn't take it anymore and handed her off to me. She just WOULD NOT go back to sleep!!! She does this every once in a blue moon (the staying up for a long time part). She is happy for the most part. Wanting to play, talk, whatever. And she was happy for the most part last night. She was just very demanding. She wanted to play upstairs. Then downstairs. Then upstairs again. Then in the kitchen where she started pulling everything out of the pantry. But that wasn't good enough. She wanted the refrigerator door open. Then she wanted the freezer door open. Then she started pulling things out and then I would put them back in. She ended up eating peanut butter crackers, grapes and ice-cream. If you are wondering why I was meeting all of her demands...it is because she would start screaming and crying if I didn't. Which means that Elsa would wake up. So I tried to keep her as quiet as possible as to not have two demanding kids up at once. By the time she finally fell asleep (while "watching" Barney for the third time on tv), Brandon was getting in the shower. It was 4am and he had a 6am flight to catch to Washington D.C. She then woke up again at 6:45am, 7:45am and then was up for good at 8:45am. That is the last time I wish her sweet dreams ;)
