On May 10, 2006, at only 6 months old, Sophie was diagnosed with Infantile Spasms...a RARE and CATASTROPHIC form of epilepsy. She continues to battle this disorder on a daily basis. Only after she had the majority of her left hemisphere of her brain removed (on May 29, 2009) has she had a relief in seizures (though she continues to show spiking in her EEG). She has shown much improvement in development since the surgery.

My Sweet Baby Girl...
Here are some pictures so you can all see how well she is doing...
Hey cutie Sophie!!! My friend was looking at pics of you & she thought you looked like my Sara too...just like I always said!! Little Brownies :) Can't wait to see you!! Love your cousins from Olathe:):):)
You look so good, Sophie. It feels wonderful to see you with your eyes open, sucking your thumb amd gripping Mommy's hair. If it weren't for the background and the "hat" on your head you'd look like you were home.
She looks amazing! She is just such a precious little girl and looks so peaceful as she is sleeping. My heart goes out to you guys and I continue to pray for you all to have a sense of peace and the strength you need every step of the way.
You are not alone..you have many prayers all around and remember, He will not leave you, just lean into Him when feel down and He will lift you back up.
Good seeing Sophie resting and doing well. Hang in there mom and dad. I'm sure seeing Sophie handling this so well makes the both of you feel at ease and possibly more comfortable heading into round two.
We are so glad to see that Sophie is doing so well. Can't wait till she gets to home and I can give her a big hug.Keep up the good work Sophie and stay strong Brad and Elaine.
