Is it weird that...

I thought Sophie's little pee-drenched footprints were oh so cute???

It was 5 minutes before midnight. I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth when I heard Sophie coming down the steps. I knew it was her (Elsa had just woke up moments before and already crawled into our bed). But her footsteps sounded a little different (as I hear them every single night right around this time). I knew something was off.

Her pajama pants were soaked.

It has been so long since she has had an accident that I can't even remember. It still makes my heart skip a beat (in a happy way) that she is potty-trained. So proud of her.

Anyway... So Brandon and I cleaned her up and slipped some new pjs on her. And I went on the hunt for the pee spot...thinking it was probably going to be in her bed. Nope. It was those cute little pee-soaked footprints in front of her bathroom door. She tried. Just didn't make it.

(By the way, I just think I am in an extremely good mood tonight because I went to a workshop on ADHD and met a very knowledgeable psychiatrist that is willing to take us on as a new patient even after explaining Sophie's complicated history. Her ADHD has been wearing on me but even more so is trying to find the help/support that we need to deal with this issue. It seems the medical community is more focused on her epilepsy and how complicated and different her case is because of her brain surgery. The psychiatrist did admit that he has not treated anyone like Sophie but that it didn't mean that he wouldn't try his best to help us. See...it doesn't take much to make me happy.)

I love her!

And you know you have to share what you learn from your new doctor. We'd have to put Trev & Sophie in a room together to see how similar they are on the ADHD front...but I know EVERYTHING with Trevor requires at least 50% more attention and focus on MY part. And it's exhausting.

This post is great. I love it! I cannot even imagine how awesome it would be to get my little one potty trained. Sounds amazing. Thanks for sharing!

Well...I didn't get home until 10:30 from the ADHD workshop. And then I had to snuggle up on the couch with a bowl of chocolate ice cream and watch my recorded shows :)

I too still beam with pride at the fact that Julia is potty trained. I'm sure most parents of 5 year olds don't give it a second thought. So glad you have a doctor willing to address the ADHD stuff, that's great.

Very cool post. Love hearing that a doc would be so optimistic about taking on a more complicated patient, there is something so...compelling about that. Most just want to set their 15 minute appointments, write the prescriptions and leave it at that.

Gives me hope, this post, that:

A: Bennett can be potty-trained.
B: Bennett can have his behavior managed more effectively than what we are doing right now.
C: That more people find bizarre stuff funny.

Good luck with the new doctor. Keep that freezer stocked with ice-cream.

YEAH Sophie!so glad to hear that she has mastered potty training -Oh how we long for potty training - I would have treasured those footprints too - we are running out of 'easy' options for pull ups, etc... now that Camilla is approaching six - not too long ago she had taken her pull up off and had an accident on the kitchen floor - I was sooooo upset with her upon finding this and I let her know it then about an hour later I found a dishcloth in the trash soaked with tt - SHE HAD TRIED TO CLEAN UP HER ACCIDENT before I had ever found it! I felt so guilty and proud I just cried! I didn't want to wash that dishcloth because of the effort and thought that the tt on it stood for :)

I am happy to hear that Sophie is doing well. Hope that the Vigabatrin was helpful. It really helped Scarlett both prior and post triple lobectomy. I would love to catch up. g.fogliani@yahoo.com. Scarlett's Mama.
